We were thrilled to welcome King's College Cambridge back to Rye Hills this week to speak to a group of Year 10s about Higher Education and university life.
Every year, a group of King's College undergraduate students travel to the North East to work with Year 10 students through a series of games and activities designed to raise aspirations and provide information about university opportunities. This project has run since the year 2000 and has two principal aims:
- To increase awareness amongst students of the opportunities available to them.
- To encourage more Cambridge applications and build a school-university relationship.
All sorts of topics are covered in these sessions, from degree subjects, the application process and finance, all the way to making friends, clubs and types of accommodation.
