Yesterday our Year 10 Design and Technology students visited Middlesbrough College for the Careers in Engineering Day.
Students attended two workshops - engineering modelling, where they showed excellent team working skills building a dinosaur structure without instructions, and electrical & electronics, where they worked on circuits to power a bell, light, or fan. The group topped off the day by attending a series of aspirational career talks.
Here's what students had to say about the event:
"This trip has helped me understand that your career path may change over time. This also made me understand the sheer amount of skills it takes, and perseverance, to be an engineer. It would be great if these trips happened more." -Ben
"I enjoyed it! It helped me to choose what I want to be, I want to be an electrical engineer. It was fun, and now I also want to go to Middlesbrough College. The staff were lovely, and the STEM building was smart. That’s where I want to go if I go to that college. Loved my team, they were great with communication and involved me. I loved the free packs they gave with the glasses." – Ruby
"I enjoyed this trip because it was useful for selecting our future and maybe our college. It was so interesting and important. I want to thank our school and the teachers that came with us. This was a beautiful experience." – Andrew
