Cole Robinson

Cole Robinson left Rye Hills Academy in 2013 and has gone on to build a successful career as a documentary filmmaker.

After studying Economics, Media Studies and Business at Prior Pursglove College, he went on to attend Northumbria University. It was during his time there that he founded his own video production company, Filmit UK, which now works with major clients including BMW, the NHS, National Rail & John Lewis.

Cole’s work takes him around the world, creating films that explore global issues through the lens of everyday people - from geopolitics and colonial legacies to working-class culture. His documentaries have taken him to places like Easter Island, North Africa, across Europe, and into parts of ancient Asia, where he captures powerful stories rooted in history, identity, and social change.

He has been commissioned by prestigious institutions such as the British Library and global media platforms like COPA90, with his work featuring in museums and public exhibitions across the UK.

Born and raised in Redcar, Cole is passionate about showing young people from Teesside that creative careers are within reach — no matter your background or path. He’s always keen to support the next generation of storytellers however he can.
