We commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day in so many different ways throughout the week and it was fantastic to see our students so engaged in the activities. Students learned all about the history of VE Day in form time and why it is so important to honour and pay tribute to those past and present who gave so much. Students wrote thank you messages on bunting, acknowledging the sacrifices and courage of those who served in the war, which our student council displayed around the dining hall. Our Dine and Discuss focussed on being reflective at this time and thinking about how people must have felt to wake up hearing the news the war had ended. The catering staff dressed up for the occasion and students enjoyed themed cakes and biscuits at lunchtime, whilst listening to war time tunes. Mr Featherstone's pop-up war museum was an absolute hit with students visiting all week to look at all the war artefacts on display and learn more about the war. All in all, a great week celebrating such an important day in history. Check out the photos below...
